Build Your Action Plan

Workplace Well-Being relates to how well the work environment supports employees to be safe, healthy, satisfied and engaged at work which are key aspects of Occupational Health and Safety standards.
A good work environment has been proven to increase the level of productivity within the workforce whereas a bad work environment can have serious negative effects on engagement and commitments of employees.
Here are 4 considerations to improve Workplace Well-Being:
  • Introduction of Safety measures that raise awareness in your team about safe practices, ensuring there are no hazardous areas in your workplace and encouraging ergonomic best practices.
  • Creating an open environment where employees are free to share their ideas, thoughts and concerns without fear of being reprimanded for their thoughts.
  • Encouraging diversity in the workplace where people of different backgrounds, beliefs, age, gender and ethnicity work together with no favoritism for one group or the other.
  • Supporting staff to have a Work-Life balance which includes healthy practices such as exercise and nutrition as well as support for parents such as child care services and maternity / parental leave policies.
HR managers should review these policies on a regular basis to be in line with staff needs and changing job requirements. So creating a good working environment would result in greater productive, creativity and less absentees - an investment well worth making.
